The Mrembo Collection
"An ode to the women who wore their stories."
Order from this collection
Growing up with parents who were both working professionals, much of my childhood was shaped by the women who cared for us.
I remember my nanny vividly — a warm, motherly Ugandan woman who looked after my brother and me as if we were truly her own. She would cook for us — matoke and uji, flavours that still live in my memory.
But what stayed with me most were Sundays. Every week, I would watch her prepare for church — dressed in the most beautiful, vibrant African fabrics. Her outfits were always perfectly put together, complete with a matching headscarf, tied with effortless grace.
Years later, I found myself surrounded by that same beauty again — through neighbours from Ghana, with their rich textiles and striking West African silhouettes. Once again, I was drawn to the artistry of the headwrap — each style carrying its own meaning and presence.
The Mrembo Collection is an ode to these women — their elegance, their confidence, and the quiet power with which they wore their stories.
